School 2.0- NETS Awareness

School 2.0 website is still down so I decided to watch one of the EduInspiration Playlist on YouTube. The video I watched was A Pep Talk from Kid President to You. This video is amazing! It's so good I even post it on Facebook to encourage all my friends and thank my friends for always encouraging me to not give up.

In this video a little boy who is known as Kid President gives people a pep talk of encouragement. For being a little boy he makes valid points. "If life is a game, aren't we all in the same team". Instead of singling people out and judging one another shouldn't we welcome everyone with open arms. Embrace each other's differences and have an open mind about people who are not like us. If we treat others like we like to be treated the world would be a better place for everyone. We all need to work together to create a better life for our future generations. I think as future teachers that is one thing we should  imply in our classrooms. "If we are all in the same team, let's start acting like it."

"You got air coming through your nose, you got heart beat that means its time to do something." Instead of seeing the negative side of things we should see the positive. Like being thankful that we are alive and wake up every morning, because sadly there's some people who don't make it thru the night. We should make everyday count. They say a day without a laugh is a waste day and I strongly believe this. If you have a positive attitude good things will come your way. It's never too late to follow your dreams whether it is to go back to school, learn how to ride a bike, take a vacation. As long as you believe in yourself and surround yourself with good people things will come your way.

This video goes along with the NETS Teacher Standards
5. Productivity and Professional Practice
    c. apply technology to increase productivity
    d. use technology to communicate and collaborate. with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning

and NETS Student Standards
2. Social, Ethical, and Human Issues
   c. develop positive attitudes toward technology uses that support life-long learning, collaboration,
       personal pursuits and productivity.

4. Technology Communications Tools
Students:
    a. use telecommunications to collaborate, publish, and interact with peers, experts, and other
    audiences.
    b. use a variety of media and formats to communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple
    audiences.

 6. Technology Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Tools
     b. employ technology in the development of strategies for solving problems in the real world.

This video is an excellent example of how one little boy can encourage others thru social media and use technology to make videos like this to bring happiness and motivation. One simple online video can motivate thousands to follow their dreams or simply making them laugh and smile as I did. We can repost this video on twitter, facebook, etc to make a chain of encouragement. We can apply this video with education because one it is a good example of technology and two it teaches everyone to not give up and fallow your dreams. We can accomplish big things in life if we have perseverance. In the words of Kid President lets all "create something that will make the world awesome!"
